TEEMU MÄKI  –  THEATER AND
PERFORMANCE

In live arts I started from performance work but then gradually shifted my focus to theater.

I've also made stage design or visualizations for other artists' theater or dance pieces, but this page is not about those.

Not all of these are first and foremost my works. Many are collaborations and in some of them my contribution has actually been close to that of a mere tool that someone else used. However, I'm listing some of those works here too, not to steal any credit from others, but just to be informative of collaborations I remember fondly.

HARMOONIA

A play I wrote (2006–2007) with Juha-Pekka Hotinen. I directed it in Teater Von Krahl, Tallinn, Estonia (premiere: 29.1.2008).

DRAHTOPHONE INTERMEDIA / PUSSYHEAD INTERMEDIA / ART BLENDER

These have been improvisation collectives consisting of mainly painters, musicians and dancers. In our performances, since 1999, we have let painting, music, dance, (pre-written) poetry and performative actions collide in a freewheeling manner, not worrying about the cohesion of the resultant "Gesamtkunstverk", taking instead pleasure in the suprises it has thrown at as.

EVERY MAN IS AN ISLAND

This was a  collaboration with Ilkka Sariola. We performed various versions of this performance in 1995-1996, in Finland, Russia and Lithuania.
